DESCRIPTION:2nd World Outgames Regatta26 - 27\, 29\, 30 Jul 2009venue: L
ake Bagsværd (visit) &amp\; Danske Studenters Roklub (visit) &amp\; Købe
nhavns Havn (visit)KøbenhavnDanmark General Information - Updated 12 Jul
2009 (in red below) Welcome to rowing at World Outgames 2009. Rowing is
one of the most popular sports in Denmark and we look forward to sharing o
ur proud traditions with all rowers who wish to compete for fun and medals
. We will be hosting three events: a 6-lane side-by-side 1000m regatta ov
er two days (Sunday 26th and Monday 27th July 2009) at the national rowing
station on Lake Bagsværd\, a 1\,000m inrigger sprint race on Wednesday\,
	 29 Jul 2009\, and a 6km head race (Thursday 30th July 2009) through the h
abour right in the city centre. The Danish Rowing Federation (DFfR) will b
e sanctioning all events. Sprint race Information FISA rules of racing w
ill be used with the following modifications:All races are 1000 metres\nAl
location of lanes are drawn by umpires\nPreliminaries and finals in races
with more than 6 entries. No repêchages\nUmpires and judges are all from
the national Danish Rowing Federation\nUniform clothing of competitors\, b
ut not painting of oar-blades.\n The 1000m regatta will include races in
single sculls (1x)\, double sculls (2x)\, pairs (2-)\, quads (4x)\, fours
coxed (4+) and coxless (4-) as well as eights (8+). Lightweight races wil
l only be in single sculls (1x). Master age categories follow FISA rules.
There will be categories for men\, women\, mixed teams in both open and ma
ster classes - and if you don't feel like being labeled in to any of these
categories\, let us know and we will try and set up a race in which you w
ould feel proud to participate! In the spirit of inclusiveness canoe and
kayak races will be mixed in amongst the rowing in the world's first integ
rated regatta. Master races will only be conducted individually if there
are more than 4 entries. Otherwise races will be collective\, and particip
ants will race against each other across age and boat categories based on
DFfR handicap rules. Medals will be given separately for each age and boat
category even though the races are combined.   The rowing course at Lake
Bagsværd is surrounded by a beautiful forest and we will be arranging pi
cnic baskets and entertainment for spectators and participants alike in be
tween races. . Recreational rowers are encouraged to participate in the i
nrigger four (4+inr) boats. Competition is not open to novices. All parti
cipants must be a member of a rowing club or association. Update: Added
sprint races - 1000m. Inrigger (coxed fours) originally posted for competi
	tion on Monday\, 27 Jul 2009 have been moved to Wednesday\, 29 Jul 2009
. “The 1000m races in the Danish inrigger boats were not originally pla
nned (only 6km)\, but due to a mistake on our registration system\, they w
ere listed as races that participants could enter. As we could see that th
ere was interest for these races\, we did try and see if we could have the
m anyway. However\, because of time constraints and issues that we have of
transporting these boats to Lake Bagsværd\, we have had to re-scheduled
these races to Wednesday 29th July in the habour area close to the Danish
Student Rowing Club's boathouse. Medals will still be awarded for these ra
ces. Details and more information will be given. All other races at Lake
Bagsværd (26th &amp\; 27th July) and the 6km (30th July) races in the cit
y centre will be held as planned.” Head race information The head race
in the habour will feature a Danish speciality of boats - the inrigger co
xed pair (2+) and coxed four (4+). Learn about the Danish inrigger boat
here. These Viking-like sturdy sea worthy boats might be a tad heavy\, but
once going\, they are the fastest vessels in the inner habour (motorised
vessels are subject to speed limits!). The Copenhagen Head of the Harbour
will offer one race formats: 6 km. Entries will be offered for open (any
mix of men and women)\, women only\, and transgender. There will be no a
ge categories. Competition is not open to novices. All participants must
be a member of a rowing club or association. Boat Availability and Hiring
Fees We are trying to keep the costs down for all participants by not ha
ving to ask for additional boat hiring fees. In the Mermaid Regatta in 200
3 we managed to borrow a decent standard of competition shells from the lo
cal rowing clubs and only had to ensure that all boats were insured. Curre
ntly we are working with the Outgames to ensure that the registration fees
would also cover the boat insurance. Update: Due to participant request\
, the regatta organizing committee has been able to confirm the availabili
ty of coxed fours (4+) for the sprint competition. Please note: because of
limited availability\, the 4+ boats will come with either bow loader or s
tern seat configurations. Please ensure your coxies have experience in bot
h configurations. Remember that your practice boat may not be your racing
boat. Regatta Registration Update: registration has now closed and the
final entries list has been published. Scholarships: the scholarship prog
ramme is now fully subscribed.. Update: Current registration numbers as o
	f 05 Jul 2009: 190 - 145 men and 45 women. The TOTAL numbers in the table
to the right are current as of 05 Jul 2009. Entries Update: All register
ed participants will receive an email from the regatta registrar confirmin
g their entries. Final entries list now published. WOG2009_Rowing_Entries_
July06.pdf If you would like to add an event or update your boat\, pleas
e send an email directly to the registrar at rowing [at] copehagen2009.org
DO NOT attempt to update your entries by logging on to the Outgames regi
stration system. It is a hopeless and muddled mess! Since the final entri
es list has been published\, only additional entries that can be accommoda
ted with the current schedule will be accepted. Lodging and Destination I
