  2. Just click on the add images button in the album itself, or in the category above, and then select 'Use an existing album' and select the one that applies. [If you are creating a new album there is a little more information you have to provide as you are creating a new album but the process is the same once the existing or new album is created. Then click on the plus symbol '+' symbol and then select from the 'Choose an action' at the bottom of the screen. To access your gallery images, simply slide the bottom display to the left with your finger, and click on 'Media picker.' For some Google or other Android users, the choice might be 'Select Media.' It all depends on the settings of your phone. For a Samsung Z Flip 5, you see the 'Media picker,' and then browse your source of the images. We tapped on Gallery and selected several images and hit 'Done' and there you go, images uploaded and all that is left is to click on 'Submit all images.'

    GLRF Community Platform V2.0 Launched

After years of promises and significant personal and developer delays, the Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation’s new online community platform is now live. The platform was officially opened for new registrations on 21 October 2024. What’s so different? Just about everything! Probably the most important change is that V2.0 is responsive. What does that mean? For all you mobile users, you can browse and interact with the community with any mobile device, phone, or tablet, all day and all night. Just type in the GLRF url, glrf.info, into any browser on your mobile and you will see and use just about every feature available that you would find on a desktop or laptop. Brand new to the V2.0 is Regattas+ The section allows any GLRF member to list any rowing-related regatta, ergatta, and camp/clinic. When we say any, we mean any: LGBTQ+-focused or not. If you have a favorite rowing regatta, you can list it, and once listed, GLRF members can follow the listing to see who is going, track comments, see any uploaded files, and share images. Every listing is designed to have an overview description (provided by a GLRF member) as well as links for the regatta website and registration. Even better, any GLRF member can edit the listing if the description or dates or url is incorrect. Best of all, there is a Member Going feature. Yes, you can click “I’m Going” and the rest of the community can see that! Probably the most visited aspect of the community is the Gallery. Not only renamed, but completely redesigned, the Gallery removes endless layers of categories and subcategories and simply offers albums. GLRF members can create their own albums or add to existing with absolute ease. Since the gallery is an intrinsic part of the platform, GLRF members can find the gallery albums connected with the Community Calendar Events section and the Regattas+ section. Another major remodel was the Countries section. Now found under Connections, the Members, section allows visitors to click on every country with a GLRF member and see member demographics by region and metroarea. We have added a country moderator feature that allows one or more country-specific GLRF members to send emails to all or portions of a given country. The Initiatives section is brand new and supports the Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation’s goals to promote inclusion and acceptance, and to promote rowing in the broader LGBTQ+ community. We encourage everyone to reconnect with our global rowing community. Log in and update your profile, or if you have heard about our community but kept putting it off, take the plunge and register – it’s free! Oh, we almost forgot! Yes, there is an app! It’s a PWA or progressive web app. It looks and acts like a native application from the Google Store or the Apple Store but just works on any browser in a phone or tablet without all the updating and downloading. Twenty years at the Head of the Charles

The Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation marked 20 years of hosting a booth at the Head of the Charles Regatta and Festival on 18 – 20 Oct 2024. Situated along non-profit row, the booth is 100 meters before the finish line and affords some great viewing as crews battle to the finish. The booth is located along a footpath fronting the Charles River. The booth location creates a bottleneck among the foot traffic flow that creates incredible visibility for approaching crews, coaches, visitors, and parents. Flowing from the finish line towards the main expo of the festival, everyone has to pass in front of the booth before they can peel off in one of several directions. There were displays for the Rower’s Pledge, the GLRF global initiative to promote inclusion and acceptance in the broader rowing community, and for the 2025 Sin City Erg, in January 2025 in Las Vegas. Booth visitors enjoyed inspecting the various GLRF t-shirts, hoodies, and headwear. In all the years of hosting a booth, this weekend seemed to be the best with only a touch of wind on Friday and sunny skies every day. Yes, it was jacket chilly in the morning but by Noon, all of us began shedding layers. At the booth we had GLRF members @DPH2002, @Bob715, and @Howie55. Throughout the weekend, GLRF members stopped by to say hello. It was great catching up with @omac, @DESIGNINGJIM35, @rowrgrl, @OneChocolateRower, @chgorower, @jalfano, @philly_cox, @rasta,and several coaches and coxies whose userids we can’t recall. It was great catching up with allies John and Charlotte from Calm Waters Rowing, Chris from Rowing News, and Bobbie from the Crew Classic. Do you have images you would like to share from the Head of the Charles? Create a new album or add to this one!

How do I mention another user?

Just type the @ symbol followed by the userid of the person you want to mention in any content within the GLRF website. (Wait for a displayed list of GLRF members and click on the userid you want) Once you add the mention, it will look like this: @glrfcentral or whomever you mention. Most importantly, the mentioned GLRF member will get a notification that he/she/ex has been mentioned.
  17. Any GLRF member can post a status update. In essence, it's a public message on your own profile activity feed. It appears in The GLRF Stream. There are two ways to use it: post a rowing-related announcement of your own or add a link to a rowing news story Click on a member's profile, and say something about them (always posiitive...) in the activity status bar. The status update will appear like this: glrfcentral -> dph2002 and then below, your comment. Finding the status update field on a desktop/laptop In the header navigation bar, click on 'Create' and select 'Status.' Alternatively, go to your profile and you'll see the field under the Activity tab that has greyed out lettering: "Write a public message on your own feed..." Finding the status update field on a mobile/tablet Click on the profile of a user and scroll down until you see the dropdown tab that has 'Activity' displayed. Below that is the status update field of the user you clicked on. If you type something in there, it will appear as You -> [user you clicked on} Click on the profile icon at the bottom of the screen Scroll down until you see the dropdown tab that has 'Activity' displayed. Below that is your own status update field showing: "Write a public message on your own feed"
  18. On desktop or laptop: Login Click on your userid in the header navigation bar. Click on Profile. Look for the 'Edit Profile' section near the top. Edit any of the fields you see - scroll down and down. Be sure to hit save! On a mobile or tablet: Login Press the Profile icon at the bottom of the screen Press the pencil edit icon in the box near the top. Edit any of the fields you see - scroll down and down. Be sure to hit save!
  19. After the GLRF web app is installed on your phone, click the icon and login. On the menu at the bottom of the screen click on the bell icon (Notifications) and then click on the blue bar that says 'Notification Settings.' Scroll past the 'Your Notifications' section until you see the next section, 'Notification Types Available.' The second item will have a mobile icon with a push-like symbol and the word Push. Click the link that says enable in this browser. Done.

    Does GLRF have an app?

Yes we do! It's called a PWA, or a progressive web app. For those who don't know, a PWA is a web app that can operate a website like a mobile application on any device. It looks like a native application but just works on any browser in a phone or tablet. You won't find the GLRF app on Google Play or the Apple App Store. Android users: On your Android device open Chrome Type in the GLRF website: https://www.glrf.info On the right of the address bar, tap Add to home screen > install Follow the instructions. Apple iPhone & iPad users: On your iPhone or iPad, open Chrome Type in the GLRF website: https://www.glrf.info On the right of the adress bar, tap Share share-apple.svg Find and tap Add to Home Screen Confirm or edit the website details and tap Add.

Why did my account go inactive?

User experience. If a member hasn't logged in for two years, we have to assume they have gone inactive. We want other members to be able to contact them by Personal Message (PM) or when a member comments about content a user has posted: gallery, forum, event, etc. If our active members don't get a response, they may feel like the GLRF community isn't a rewarding experience.
  22. As an individual membership organization, we want to stay in touch with our members. If someone registers as coach@xvzrowing.club, and they move on, that person won't be reachable. Recently, we wanted to reach out to an Australian rower but he had used a company domain in his registration. He had long since left the company and we have no way of contacting the member.
  23. glrfcentral

How can I delete my membership?

You will find the option in the left sidebar of the member account settings page. The deletion process is not instantaneous. The request for deletion will be routed to the administrator for approval. After that, the account will be deleted. All content uploaded or created by the member will be retained on the GLRF platform for continuity. For more information, please see the Registration Terms.
  24. Shoreside is the base registration when all members register. As a Shoreside member, your membership will never expire. You have access to most of the features on the GLRF website except the Find A Member feature found on each of the GLRF Country pages in Members, the community search feature, and the Shop At GLRF discount feature for gear purchases. The OnTheWater upgraded membership provides all of the base Shoreside member features and includes the additional features: Find A Member in the GLRF Country pages, the community search feature, and the Shop At GLRF discount for gear purchases. The upgraded membership lasts for 12 months and if not renewed, will lapse and the membership will be downgraded to Shoreside.
