The Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation will host our fourth indoor rowing event, an ergatta, on Sunday 19 January 2025, in Las Vegas. The Sin City Erg is presented for the worldwide LGBTQ+ indoor and outdoor rowing community, age 13 and over. The event is inclusive to the broader rowing community and everyone is welcome so bring your straight teammates to compete! The ergatta is part of the Sin City Classic, the largest annual LGBTQ+ multi-sport event in the world.

If you're looking at the tags and wondering what the 2X, 4X and 8+ is all about, that's because this event is offering standard individual races as well as team events.  Everyone registers, then we get a line up for the team events and plug it in the computer.  The race runs just like an individual race, except the lineup for each boat is calculated by the computer to show the combined time of the team boat compared to other team boats.  First across the line wins, just like on the water.  Sounds like a great challenge for university teams, for junior teams, for club teams ....

The Stonewall Regatta Organizing Committee and the DC Strokes Rowing Club invite rowers to compete at the Stonewall XV Regatta. Stonewall is the only glbt-sponsored regatta in the United States. The event helps kick off the mid-Atlantic adult sprint racing season and serves to connect groups from different backgrounds and different geographic regions. Teams enter from private clubs, the armed forces, and other glbt crews (from cities like Boston, Chicago and Toronto). Last year’s regatta drew 350 rowers from 22 clubs to compete in 55 events. The course, set on the Anacostia River, starts just below the Pennsylvania Avenue (Sousa) Bridge and finishes downriver between the double I-295 bridges. * Launch/recover: Anacostia Community Boathouse * First race at 0900h. and last race at 1600h. * Course: 1,000 meter finals-only masters sprint race * Boat entries: 1x, 2x, 4x, 4+, and 8+ * Category entries for novice, masters, and open] * USRowing categories AA - J

Every summer, rowers and spectators from around the greater Washington, DC area, nation, and globe gather in Washington, DC for the Stonewall Regatta, hosted by the DC Strokes Rowing Club, to kick off the circuit of adult sprint racing in the Mid-Atlantic region. Stonewall is the only regatta in North America hosted by a Gay & Lesbian rowing team, and -- like the club itself -- welcomes athletes of all orientations. Stonewall Regatta follows the commitment of DC Strokes to bridge gaps between communities by building an inclusive environment and educating the public not only about rowing, but also contributions by the LGBT community and DC Strokes. The event promotes true sportsmanship in an open and inclusive environment, created not only by the participants themselves, but also by the event sponsors and volunteers.

The regatta was hosted at Crystal Lake by the Crystal Lake Rowing Club. The 1,000 meter course began mid-lake and pointed downwind to a finish line near the main beach. The lanes were partially buoyed. Floating starts were used. Rowers had about 2 hours to practice before the start of the race. The race was a USRowing sanctioned regatta. A total of 8 USRowing judges were assigned to the regatta. One protest was filed. Events were listed for men, women, and mixed boats, in both masters and open categories. Many of the boats were composite entries with rowers coming from various rowing clubs. Loaner boats were provided from the Mendota Rowing Club, the Crystal Lake Rowing Club, the Chicago River Rowing and Paddling Club, and Purdue University. The boat manufacturers included Kaschper, Hudson, Derigo, Wintech, and Vespoli, and others. Some of the more energetic rowers raced all weekend, by participating in the Chicago Sprints on Saturday, 15 Jul 2006, and then racing at the Gay Games.

The DC Strokes Rowing Club has held a Masters sprint regatta for 30 years. In 2020 and 2021 we held virtual events, and have been working to rebuild the team and the Stonewall Regatta. In 2023 we were only able to host a small scrimmage, but we are so excited for returning to the full expression the Stonewall Regatta. Join us June 2, 2024 for a great day of inclusive rowing!
