Michael Swain and Ryan Worth competed in the biggest rowing event in North America the Head of the Hooch, where the pair picked up a Bronze medal.

Swain’s main event was in the Men’s Master 4x, Worth, Swain, Mike Schay and Anders Holmberg won the Bronze Medal with a time of 16:05.0.

“We were fastest down the course but we won the Bronze Medal due to age handicapping. I then entered the double (two men) and the single,” said Swain.

Bermuda was represented at the 2011 Head of the Hooch Rowing Championships in Tennessee this past weekend [Nov.5/6] by Ryan Worth and Michael Swain.

The Head of the Hooch Regatta is a 5,000 meter [3.1 mile] head race on the Tennessee River ending at Ross’s Landing Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The second largest regatta in the country, the event attracts approximately 10,000 rowers ranging in age from 12 to 80.

Under the watchful eye of the Honorary Regatta Marshall Ryan Worth, the Bermuda Rowing Association held a Summer Rowing Regatta in Hamilton Harbour yesterday morning [July 24].

Gretchen Dill and Sammy Dill won the Novice Ladies Double Sculls race, while Jacinto Brown and 12-year-old AJ Whaley won the Novice Men’s Double Sculls race. Will Porteous and Alex Wilberz won the Mixed Double Sculls race, while Lulu Hedstrom and Ciara Svenson won the Ladies Double Sculls race.

The Bermuda Rowing Association hosted a Rowing Regatta in the Hamilton Harbour this morning [July 24]. Rowers raced to the eastern end of the Harbour from Whites Island, maneuvered around two buoys, and raced back to the finish line just off of White Island. The races included males, females and juniors in both two-person and four-person teams. We will update with full results as able.
