Why sex wins - apparently sex before sport has its benefits

Research shows that having sex 10-12 hours before competition does not have a negative effect on performance. Physiology tests showed strength of grip, muscle strength, balance, lateral movement, reaction time, aerobic power and cardio-respiratory fitness did not change if there had been sex the night before.

XXV Regaty Silver Skiff w Turynie

Tegoroczne, jubileuszowe XXV Regaty Silver Skiff w Turynie rozegrane zostały 12 – 13 listopada tradycyjnie na rzece Pad w przepięknej i urokliwej scenerii zabytkowego turyńskiego parku, w otoczeniu historycznych budowli. Regaty organizowane są przez Królewskie Towarzystwo Wioślarskie CEREA założone w 1863 roku i rozgrywane są tylko na jedynkach wśród kobiet i mężczyzn w kategoriach : junior, senior, waga lekka i masters, na dystansie 11 km pod trzema mostami z nawrotem w połowie dystansu. Dodatkowo dołączone zostały wyścigi dzieci na dystansie 1000 m. i pararowing na dystansie 4000 m. W tym roku regaty miały rekordową obsadę. Na dystansie 11 km. Wystartowały 672 skify z 32 krajów. Łącznie wszystkich było ponad 960 uczestników.

Rekordzistą tego dystansu jest Nowozelandczyk, dwukrotny Mistrz Olimpijski z Londynu i Rio de Janeiro Mahe Drysdale, który w 2007 roku uzyskał czas 40:18. W tym roku zwycięstwo z czasem 40:55 jeden z chorwackich braci – złotych medalistów Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Rio de Janeiro w dwójce podwójnej - Martin Sinkovic. Drugi ze stratą 19 sek. był Portugalczyk Pedro Fraga, który zarazem był najlepszym skifistą regat w wadze lekkiej. Drugi z braci Sinkovic był piąty, a finalista olimpijski, medalista Mistrzostw Świata w jedynce, Kubańczyk Angel Fournier Rodriguez dopiero na 81 miejscu. Na 87 miejscu na metę przypłynęła pierwsza kobieta – Holenderka Lisa Scheenaard. W grupie młodzieżowej najlepszym okazał się Czech Michał Plocek, a w wadze lekkiej kobiet Włoszka Valentina Rodini.

Także Polska miała wśród zwycięzców swoich reprezentantów. W kategorii Masters wystartowała Barbara Borkowska /na zdjęciu/ i odniosła trzecie już swoje zwycięstwo w tej imprezie otrzymując specjalną nagrodę w postaci miniatury srebrnego skiffa z rąk Prezesa Włoskiej Federacji Wioślarskiej Giuseppe Abbagnale.

Anyone who has raced in a rowing shell or pulled a 2000m test on the ergo understands that, at its most fundamental level, the sport of rowing can feel like an intimate relationship with pain. Although there are some fortunate – or crazy enough - to enjoy the discomfort, most don’t particularly like it, everyone, however, respects it.
