LM4- niet langer Olympisch

FISA congress 2017 in TokyoTokyo, gaststad voor de Olympische en Paralympische spelen van 2020 was de voorbije dagen het decor voor het FISA congress 2017. En ondanks het een feestjaar moet worden, FISA bestaat dit jaar 125 jaar, moesten er op dat congress moeilijke knopen doorgehakt worden. Gwenda Steven, voorzitter van de Belgische roeibond, vertegenwoordigde ons land. Het roeien, de 3de grootste sport op de Olympische spelen moet van 550 atleten afslanken naar 500, zo wil IOC voorzitter Thomas Bach het toch. De Duitser ziet geen toekomst meer voor lichtgewichten en zo kwam het voorstel van FISA om de LM4- te schrappen van het Olympisch tornooi en te wisselen voor de W4-. Enkele landen reageerden hier fel op. FISA zal er alles aan doen om de lichte dubbeltwee wel op het programma te houden. Eerder deze middag gaf Gwenda Stevens via videochat mee dat het afschaffen van de lichte dubbeltwee geen goede zaak zou zijn voor het Belgisch roeien, verwijzende naar Tim Brys en Niels Van Zandweghe. "Het was een vermoeiende vergadering met van enkele landen zeer felle reacties.

FISA proponuje zmiany w programie igrzysk

Międzynarodowa Federacja Wioślarska (FISA) na Kongresie w Tokio ogłosiła propozycję zmiany w programie igrzysk olimpijskich w 2020 roku, które odbędą się w stolicy Japonii.  Męską czwórkę bez sternika wagi lekkiej, a miałaby zastąpić kobieca czwórka bez sterniczki.

Jeśli zmiany zostaną w lipcu zatwierdzone przez Międzynarodowy Komitet Olimpijski (MKOl), wówczas w programie igrzysk 2020 roku będzie po siedem wioślarskich konkurencji żeńskich i męskich.

Podczas ubiegłorocznych mistrzostw świata w konkurencjach nieolimpijskich w Rotterdamie, które odbyły się tuż po igrzyskach w Rio de Janeiro, w czwórce bez sterniczki zwyciężyły Brytyjki, przed Amerykankami i Niemkami. Kolejne miejsca zajęły osady Białorusi, Chin oraz Kanady. Zgłoszone były jeszcze Holenderki, które odpadły w repasażu.

W czwórce bez sternika wagi lekkiej polska osada zdobyła w igrzyskach olimpijskich w Pekinie srebrny medal.
